How To Easily Sell Products Online.

This short article of how to easily sell products online is intended to help you understand the basic principals behind what it takes to get you noticed on the Internet. I also hope to be able to help you understand just a little bit about finding a target market.

All products are not all that easy to sell online. Take for instance wellness products. You could spend all day hawking your goods to everyone you meet, but unless you're extremely gifted you're not going to make a living doing it.

There is an art form however that will help you more easily sell any product you wish. You just have to apply your knowledge on the subject, and be willing to put in a dash of research and spend little time writing.

It's called article marketing or public relations. It begins in one of 2 mindsets. Each mindset has a different point of view.

  1. Who you are selling your product too.
  2. What you are selling.

If you already know who you are selling to you then need to find a product to sell to them, that they might like or want. You are actually better off focusing on what that group of people will want vs. what they might like or need. Products that people need may not sell as readily as you might think. Because people buy on emotion and then, they justify the purchase with logic.

There are a couple of exceptions to that rule I can think of really quickly, toilet paper is at the top of that list. Yet even that could be logically justified. How? Well, we learn at an early age that it is not pleasant being around someone who smells like... well, a toilet.

We all want and need friends. The lack of toilet paper could lead to a short list of friends. QUICKLY! Therefore we buy and use toilet paper even though it is just going to get flushed.

If you have product in mind that you would like to sell you need to discover who might be most interested in and want this product.

Am I making any sense here?

Research That Pays

When you have a product in mind you must discover who will most likely want it. Right? You need to ask yourself this series of questions to help find your target market.

  1. Is it gender specific? Think Channel No.5 and Stetson.
  2. What age group would most likely want it? Toddlers like Barney and geriatrics like pitted prunes.
  3. What economic bracket can afford your product?
  4. Is your product geographically restricted? Think dog sleds in Miami and Bikini's in Tok Alaska
  5. Is your product recreational or business in nature?  Could it be both?  i.e. A product that is recreational but can be used as a tax right off. But focus on just one group first then the other once you have mastered your pitch to the first group.
  6. Who is it going to help?

This is just a short list but you should get the picture. You must know who you are selling to. If you don't know you will have a very difficult time selling anything. Plain and simple.

Words That Sell Your Products

Once you have all the demographics figured out you need to spend some time studying keywords. I know your not planning on a PPC campaign, at least not yet anyway. But doing good keyword research is the best way ensure the best chance you will get read.

This is what is important, being read. If no one reads what you have written then how can you expect to make any sales?

On the Internet no readership means no sales. Keywords are the currency on the Internet.

So keyword research it is... ok here is where you begin. You will need a keyword tool. I don't know any other way around it. If you don't have one or can't afford to buy one try Google's keyword tool. Just Click Here and it will take you right to it. It is not perfect but it does a good enough job to get your started.

What To Look For In A Keyword

The keyword you choose is what will determine who will see your article. You need to think of your article in 1 of 2 ways. It is an add like an advertorial (a sales pitch in story form). Or it is an real article that provides good solid information for your reader. It can be fictional or factual it doesn't matter. But your keyword choice does. The later of the 2 is better for long term stability.

You keyword should be in fairly high demand. It should have as little competition (competing articles) for it as well. The demand is noted in monthly search volume in numbers i.e. 12,087 or it could be in the millions. The competition is shown as a box being filled with blue. The more blue you see the higher the competition is for that keyword.

The best keywords you are looking for are called niche keywords. But any high traffic keyword could bring you traffic.  Once you find a niche however, dig in with both hands and hold on for dear life. Put all of your effort into this niche because this is where you will see your efforts really pay off.

You need a keyword that fits or describes what your target market would be searching for. If possible you need to know how they think and how they speak. What they feel, what gets them emotional all of these things play a role in the success of your article.

Putting It Together For Profits

You have done your keyword research and your ready to go. Now write your article. Write it just as if you where describing it to your best friend. No seriously, that gives your article emotion that can be felt by your reader. This is what can give you that connection that is needed between you and your reader. No not everyone will like what you have to say or the way in which you say it. But you not trying to please everyone just a couple here and there will do just fine.

Other then SEO'ing your article such as I have described Here on this hub page. You need to fill it with emotion and benefits. Well actually benefits bring out an emotional response in your reader all by themselves. It is extremely important to add a list of benefits in your article in the form of bullet points.

What are benefits you might ask. Well that is easy to answer. Try this on your list of features that you think are benefits, ask yourself So What to your benefit and if it makes sense... it is only a feature.

Like this for instance. Since I already started with toilet paper I will stick with it.

  • Brand A toilet paper is quilted and more absorbent that the leading competition.

If that a feature or a benefit? Say so what after the statement....Yep so what who cares, big deal. that statement is only a feature. It may be more absorbent but it might cost three times as much. Let try it this way.

  • Brand A toilet paper is quilted and more absorbent than the other leading brands so you can use less and save money for the things you enjoy.

See that is a benefit. And it is a pretty good one at that. Save money and spend it on the things you like and enjoy. If you say so what to that, you don't need to be reading this article because you already have too much money.

With a little time and thought I am certain you could come up with an even stronger benefit. Remember you need as many benefits as you can think of. And list your strongest one twice. If it make sense to do so.

Now that you have done all of this you need your reader to be able to make a purchase should he/she choose. A lead capture page or a sales page will work great. you can use affiliate pages for this without any worries about what Google thinks. As this form of marketing is free. i.e. not reliant upon PPC or some other form of money exchanging hands to get you the sales you need.

It is easy to sell any product you want if you apply these rules. I have done it with great success. If I can do it anyone can.

Here are 2 examples of Hubs that I have written just for this purpose and they are producing me an income.

This first article is ranked for the forth position in the organic search in Google What is Osolean™. This Hub also ranks 14th for the keyword "osolean review". It is often a good idea to send people who are looking or learning about a product to a Lead capture page as well.

I send people to a lead capture page. It does a pretty good job at converting. But you should notice that it is written with the same keywords that I use for my articles. This has help me have a 28% conversion rate. Of course by showing you this my conversion rates will fall, but I already know what to expect from my PPC campaign.

The second article for the same main keyword Osolean™ has a FIRST PLACE ranking with Google. This is a very coveted position and I hope to hold that rank for a while. How To Buy Osolean™. For people already looking to buy Osolean™ I send directly to an order page.

You can see how I was able to use the keyword for my specific product and add a few other words to get the attention of the correct audience. People researching Osolean™, or people wanting to buy Osolean™.

Oh yea, remember at the top of the page when I mentioned PPC advertising. If your page makes sales all by itself and you have a good conversion rate. It is time to add a PPC campaign to ramp up the amount of traffic you are getting. But that is for another Hub.
