Getting Your Hub Articles Read Outside Of the Hub Community

Getting your hub articles read outside of the Hub community requires a little bit of forethought and planning. Just a little mind you but a well thought out hub can bring you rewards for a long time. Even years if you play your cards right.

You Hub should be written around a keyword/s or phrase as it is called. Preferably you should choose a keyword or phrase that has a good amount of search volume but with no or as little as possible competition as possible. This is a sure fire why to be seen and ranked quickly by the search engine spiders.

But there are a couple of things you need to do to "seal the deal" and have your article placed and read in the organic search of Google's empire. I mean, if your gonna get off the porch and play in the yard you might as well play with the big dogs and Google is the biggest dog of all search engines. If you please Google everybody wins.

It's called SEO'ing. And here are some SEO tips that will propel your article to the top of the organic list. Use these SEO tips and leave your competition in the dust.

Keywords, Your Bait To Catch Readers

Keywords are like bait for your readers.
Keywords are like bait for your readers.

SEO'ing / Keywords

Whenever SEO'ing is mentioned people automatically think about trying to trick the search engines into showing your article/webpage to the searcher who is looking for information on a certain topic. When really no trickery ever has to take place.

To SEO a page one must first think about who he/she is going to write too then what he or she is going to write about and find good keywords to write around. Everything you do revolves around your keyword and their usage.

Just like fishing. First you need to know who you are fishing for and then your keywords are the bait to get readers.

Once your keyword research is done you will want to use that keyword in a couple of very specific locations.

It is crucial to use your keyword exactly the same way in the following locations.

  1. In your page title
  2. In your description
  3. In your Meta tags and tag cloud
  4. In your headline.
  5. In your sub head.
  6. Within the first 90 characters of your article/page.
  7. Scattered around in your page here and there within your article. But be cautious and do not over do it. A good rule of thumb to follow is this. Use your keyword when and where needed so that your article makes sense. If you over do it or "stuff" your article the spiders will penalize you for it and you will not be shown. A good rule to follow is to have a keyword saturation of 3%. Use synonyms where it makes sense and focus a bit on a secondary keyword.
  8. Use your keyword in at least one link if possible.
  9. Use your keyword near the end of your article to show that the entire article is on subject.

SEO'ing / Links

Out Going Links

Links are important not only to the reader of a good article but also to the spider as well. The search engine spider never sleeps and is constantly crawling the web in search of new or better content to provide it's customers. Who are they you ask? Well that is the readers or searchers. The people who enter their search phrase/keywords looking for information.

Google's job is to provide the searcher with good relevant information and it is your job to write it for them. Links provide 2 benefits to you but only 1 to the reader.

The benefit to the reader is this:

  1. Links also show the reader that there is more information that you feel is important enough to share with them.

The benefit to you is this:

  1. Outgoing links show the spider that you are serious about providing good information.
  2. When a visitor clicks on one of your links it shows the spider that there is something to this page/article that means something to the reader. This "action" on your page give you rank with Google. NOTE: Be certain to have any outgoing links open in a new window. This way your reader can return to finish reading your page easily.

Incoming Links

Links that come into your page (Keyword Optimized) also show the spiders that your page is valuable. These links coming show more importance when coming from high ranking pages. This is true even for your blog or website.

Here are some examples of how I wrote a Hub that gets good organic traffic using the steps I have described so far. Both of these are in the number one position in all of the search engines. Even though there is not much traffic for these keywords the people searching for these keyword are usually are ready to buy.

How To Buy Ambrotose

SEO'ing / Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is relatively new or it would be web 2.5 or something like that right? Anyway my point is this. The user friendly side of the web is here and it is the best thing since McDonald's french fries.

Web 2.0 allows the reader to take actions on your webpage or articles that you have written. I mean you put your all into it and you want to at least know that every now and then some one has read your work and gained something from it. Or hated it but thought you would like to know. Either way you win here's why.

Hub pages has web 2.0 built right in. The comments area is a web 2.0 dream. Write a good article that people comment on and the spiders go nuts. They love it. This causes them to evaluate and grade your article and being very good and valuable. They in turn reward you by placing it higher in the organic search area for their readers to enjoy as well.

SEO'ing / Social Media

Social media is a very strong area in which you can focus your efforts. After you have written your article tell you friends about it. Have them read it. If your lucky they may even comment on it. There are several places for socializing. There is Facebook, Myspace and an article tweeted about on Twitter just to name a few.

Be sure to post your articles for all to see.

Another great social media/bookmarking site is Digg Digg is really more of a bookmarking site but with a social twist. You can find and connect with friends and anytime you find a page or site that you like you can "Digg-It" as its called and your friends will be able to  and read see what you dug. The traverse is also true that you will be notified of pages your friends have dug too.

When you are active in social media be certain to keep it social. Interact with others and don't only write about your work, products or pages. This only annoys people and soon they will begin to ignore your posts.

If you are writing articles and submitting them to the directories for distribution be certain to bookmark everyone of those website pages that have your article. This is good for them and for you as well. Because it give them more rank and in turn they have linked to your page giving you a better rank as well.

The Down Side For Some Hubbers

There could be a down side to all of this for some Hubbers who write hubs to make money from solely from ad clicks that their hubs may receive. When writing to be seen quickly in the organic area's of the search engines your keywords will have little value. Meaning that in a PPC campaign they do not cost as much because PPC's are auctions.

This means that when you choose a keyword or phrase that is only worth 12 cents it would take a ton of traffic for you to make even $10.00. However if your keyword does receive a lot of traffic then you can make a pretty good money.

I write my hubs to promote products or just to offer some incite of what has worked for me. I find keywords that match my offers and then write about that keyword and infusing in within my article as I have shown you above. And it has worked wonderfully too I might ad.

I have written several pages here on Hubpages. By using the strategies that I have outlined for you here I have seen them go to the number one spot for my target keywords. I then tweak these articles once they start getting noticed for other keywords and soon I am ranking well for those similar keywords as well, sometimes in as quickly as 1 day.

I hope this has been of some value to you. Use it and you will see huge changes in the amount of traffic you receive.

Keywords should always be the starting point. An article doesn't have to sound forced or robotic to include keywords; it just has to use them strategically. Do that, and you've got half the problem covered already.

Thanks for the Kudos Sweetsusieg. If you ever have a day where you don't learn something new, you better check for a pulse. LOL SEO techniques are the back bone of being seen through organic search. But keywords are the backbone of SEO.

Try focusing on the longtail keywords for the most traffic in a short amount of time.

Do you think SEOing will work now that most of the sites got hit by the Panda update?

Donna, thanks or your kind words, reading that you feel that this is one of the easiest to understand explanations that you have ever read makes me feel good.

Anurag, Oh yea it still works, I use it everyday on every blog post, webpage or article I write... I even had an article reach the number 9 posistion in the SERP's (search engine return pages) in must 8 hours. In fact the whole Panda thing never did any damage to my work. I actually see better results when the Google Panda slapped so many people... It is all about providing the information that people are looking for. Simply ask yourself a question and then answer it using keywords.

It is always great to see new people learning to build an online presence and once you learn it is not that difficult to find readers you can make a good income even while sitting in a coffee shop.

How great is that?
