The Hidden Enemy Of Dieting

Did you know that dieting does more than promote fat loss, it also promotes muscle loss. Typically, one half of the weigh lost while on a diet is actually lean muscle. So when you reach your goal of weighing 20lns less, you actually lost 10lbs of fat burning muscle.

5lbs of fat is much larger than 5lbs of muscle. That is why when we use certain fat loss supplements that really boost fat loss we often don't see a big reduction in weight but we drop inches like crazy... Watch the video to see what I mean.

Prevent Muscle Loss

Muscle loss is possibly the #1 reason why we regain weight so quickly after we have "ended" our diet.. That's because our fat burning potential has been reduced, sometimes quite a bit. Once we reach our goal we often resume our normal, everyday eating habits, then, faster than rabbits hump, the weight is back on your ass, with a little extra to boot. As if you missed it or something...

Muscle burns fat so you will want to build muscle rather than lose it. You can build muscle by doing some strength training exercises such as lifting weights, using exercise bands or anything the provides resistance to muscle movement.

Muscle Mass and Fat Loss

There is a direct correlation between muscle mass and fat loss potential...

Muscles burn fat, even while they are at rest. The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. It is really that simple. But when you want to be to wiggle your butt into a smaller pair of jeans and stop avoiding the mirror, you have to do something... RIGHT?

The best thing you can do to prevent as much muscle loss as possible is devise a fat loss diet/plan that will prevent or at least reduce that amount of muscle you lose. Fat loss doesn't have to be a dreaded chore and it shouldn't be accomplished over night, in fact that is dangerous. Fat loss should be a process that is enjoyable, tasty and something you look forward to. There are a few things you can do that will help you reach your fat loss goals.

Foods That Promote Fat Loss And Save Muscle

Resistance training alone isn't enough to prevent all muscle loss. On the other side of the coin there are foods that we can eat that will not only help boost our metabolism but also help prevent muscle loss.

Proteins. We need to eat foods that are high in protein such as meats, bean and eggs. These foods provide us with the proteins that we need to build or retain muscle. We also need amino acids to convert these proteins into muscle.

One way to get them is by getting yourself some Bragg Liquid Aminos. Bragg can be found in most large grocery stores or online they are inexpensive and are tasty on almost any food.

Fiber. Then there are foods that are high in fiber as well. Vegetables such as legumes (beans), broccoli, cabbage. Fruits like raspberries, apples and pears with their skins on, sweet potatoes and oatmeal are also high in fiber. Fiber and proteins are more difficult for our bodies to break down as they pass through our digestive system. These types of foods WILL naturally help your body to burn more of the calories you just consumed.

Lentils, another type of legume, as well as barley, where a favorite food of the gladiators. The knew they where good for you but I doubt they knew that lentils have 16g of fiber and 18g of protein but only 1g of fat per cup. Lentils are a real power house fat loss food.

A healthy diet should consist of 25 grams of fiber for women, while men should consume 35 grams of fiber each day.

Thanks for the comment....I should right a hub about fats in the diet vs products like margarine. If we were to eat the same fats that people did just 3 generations ago, I believe we would see a much healthier society.
